I have a question. My webpage is for the PRIDE Alliance club at my college, and sense it's a club project, I may not realize that the two weeks or whatever have passed. Is there a way to get any sort of warning before it's terminated? Like an e-mail a day or two before it's terminated?

If it's terminated is there a way to still get the database information off the webserver (I have all the sourcecode for the pages on my computer)?

Does signing into cpanel count? Or signing into the webpage through FTP (what I usually do)?

Thank you,
Malfist

No. Sorry. After 2 weeks, your account is suspended if you haven't logged in. After 10 days of being suspended, the account is terminated. So, basically ... you have 23 days. ( 14 days that you didn't log in and basically 9 for suspended )

No. Once the account is terminated, its erased from the server.

No. Only signing into the forum here qualifies.

There is absolutely no way to get the database data after termination?

Nope. Termination means the account is deleted. Its not like on your personal computer where you can undelete. Once its deleted, its gone. Only paid hosting has backups made. Free accounts don't and its up to the user to have backups of files and databases.

If I can jump in and make a suggestion, why not set your home pc's browser homepage to the x10 forums? It'll pop up every day you go online (which is probably at LEAST once a week, given you being in college), and as long as you get in the habit of NOT ignoring it (as in, always signing in when you see it), it shouldn't become a problem (hasn't for me yet).

I'd say set all the college pc's to x10 as well, but I'm sure that somehow constitutes pc fraud/tampering as far as the college is concerned ;)

All the lab PC's has deep freeze on them (restored to a backup image on reboot), so that's not feasible. If I have it set to 'remember me' and set it to the forum does that count as logging in?

I know a macro on a cron to log in wouldn't be allowed :p

I can't guarantee that the "remember me" option'll work for everyone, but I've had no problems with it so far.

Just make sure to click a few links though; not sure if viewing the front page with remember me on is enough to register as logging in, but if you hit a few links it should work flawlessly :)

As for deep freeze...Blech. Nasty crap that - buggered quite a few assignments for quite a few students in college here :)

Agreed, I've dealt with it all the way though high school too so I'm used to it. It's a pain in the ass (especially when the incompetent system admin hates you and won't increase your server storage space despite the fact that you need the storage for your online classes (don't let me get started :p)).

I use that.

I use remember me also, it should register you as logging into the forums the second the home page loads(Again, as long as your settings permit remember me to work). For an example why we don't keep in data after an account is terminated... we terminate 200+ accounts per day and suspend about 300-400. We would run out of space quite fast!

I understand, not saying I like it, but hey? What am I paying?

I'm enjoying the service so far. The signing into the forum to keep your account is innovative.

I don't see how you offer all that you do. I've never seen a free host offer this much.
