If you don't follow English Football I guess this might be hard to follow but Wycombe Wanderers were until quite recently a semi-pro team that played in a semi-pro league. The rules of the game state that if you win that league (or come second) you are entitled to promotion into the pro leagues if your ground and pitch meet certain critera. Wycombes' facilities did meet these critera a few seasons back when they did win the league and now they play in the very bottom league of the 4 pro football leagues in England. They did gain promotion to Division 1 a couple of seasons back but got almost immediately relegated back to Division 2

The 4 leagues are as follows;
FA Premier League
Chamionship
Division 1
Division 2

I no longer live anywhere near the town/team now but I do follow their progress via newspaper/web/tv. These days I follow non league football which is yet lower down the rankings but still a great afternoons entertainment
