If you have a domain, how easy is it to switch hosts? Do you just change the name servers to the new host?

Yes . Go to the domain registrar and change the domain name servers and point them to whatever the host servers are. In x10hosting's case they are..
ns1.x10hosting.com
ns2.x10hosting.com

Well, changing the domain nameservers will change where the domain is pointing.
To actually change where it is hosted at - you would have to put in a transfer request with your registrar.

You confused me, so If my domain was registered with godaddy or 1&1. I would have to transfer the domian to x10 before I can put anything on it?

No. One, because x10 is not a domain registrar, but a web host. So you couldn't transfer the domain to x10. The only time you would want to transfer a domain is if you found a bettter ( cheaper, etc ) registrar.

If you just want to use your domain on x10 - follow what was given above by Chris73.
