Wired Vs. Wireless (Controllers)

Which do you prefer? Wired or Wireless? I like Wired for 360, and well, you can't use wired for Ps3/wii.. (unless its a GameCube controller). But yah, for 360, which do you like?

Wired is 100x better,

Its stable, reliable not to mention faster.

Wireless is a last resort (Powerline is 2nd).

Hmm Well for PC I prefer a Wireless keyboard, and a Wired mouse.

I have both, a Wireless mouse/keyboard set, and a Wired G5 mouse by Logitec. I LOVE THAT MOUSE. It has 5 Speed settings perfect for me, cause COD4, Sniper needs slow settings, and Rifle needs faster ones. =D

No one's mentioned yet that Wireless requires recharging and wired doesn't.

That alone makes it A+ in my book; nothing like having the controller die cause once it's dead, you can't even PAUSE, let alone keep playing.

Theres a few wireless controllers though that seem to register a disconnect signal when the controller dies so instead of it not pausing, if the game supports it, you get a popup that says the controller came unplugged




Wired all the way though. That's also what my dual PS2-to-usb converter supports so I can play retro games with what is almost the strongest gamepad known to man (the strongest is a Wiimote - strong enough to sustain being thrown at the tv and still work ).

i love my wireless ps3 controllers. i have an 8 month old and with the wired controls for the ps2 it's impossible to do anything. i haven't noticed any lag or poor relay issues do to the wireless.

my favorite controller though is the regular xbox's S controller. best comfort and use of controls. the 360's is just different enough that i like the ps3's better.

One reason I hate the 360's wireless controller is the battery pack is so darn HUGE.. It blocks my fingers from default position, although i sorta got used to it, I do MUCH better with a wired controller.

And YES you can stick your Wireless PS3 controller into the PS3's usb port thus keeping it constantly charged and connected.

Actually, I'm almost 100% sure that when you connect the PS3 controller to charge it, and play at the same time, its still Wireless.

Even if it's still communicating via wireless it's still cabled; for most intents and purposes it's now a wired controller >_<


At the very least it has all the downsides of a wired controller - limited range, flailing the controller around drags the console off the shelf, etc.

It depends on what my taste is. I mainly play using my wireless controllers on my PS2, though the controller when the battery gets low, vibrates using whatever power it has left, shuts down, and the game stops. Otherwise, I prefer my wireless over my wired, unless I'm out of batteries of course, but the wireless controllers work good, despite dozens of wireless devices around my house.

But still, If you go to GameStop, and you see the Wii console there, its "wired" to the Wii Stand. It doesn't mean its wired?.. Same here.. if you use a PS3 controller, and plug it in, it still transmits wireless, and therefore is still "wireless"

So pretty much by plugging in the controller, you're chewing up unneeded power, am I right? Time to get "smart" controllers that shut off the wireless when the cable is pulled .

I generally prefer wireless, but I also don't game 24/7 so I don't have to worry very much about batteries dying in the middle of things - I use it when I need to, and plug it in when I'm done. Never noticed any kind of real lag either.

Of course, I generally WISH it was wired when I get insanely angry at a game. There is literally no limit to the distance you can chuck a wireless controller.

That's a good thing actually.

When it's wired, it either unplugs itself from the console, rips the cord out of the back of the controller, or yanks the entire console off the shelf.

Obviously the last one sucks cause it usually results in, at the very least, superficial damage to the console, and at most, serious damage to the hardware resulting in a non-working console.


And usually it's hard to slide yanking it off the shelf past the guys at the warranty desk XD

Well if you live in apartment with roommates like I do, we have multiple game consoles and wires get tangled FAST. Gamecube, PS2, modded XBOX, and a 360 in the living room.. it gets crazy!

However I still prefer wired over wireless. No worry about recharging or interference with another nearby console (doing a system link with another 360 with all wireless controllers is crazy)
