So I changed my password for my account. Oddly this did not change the password for my cPanel account nor my forum account.

1. I went to http://www.x10hosting.com/
2. On the first page that comes up in the "Enter Login Information" box near the left center I typed in my username and (now old) password
3. I was redirected to http://www.x10hosting.com/account
4. Under Account Details I entered a new password
5. I clicked on Confirm Hosting Details
6. It said my change was successful
7. I closed my browser
8. I tried to login with my new password
9. It didn't work, but my old one did. :dunno:

So what is the proper way to get my
  • Hosting Account Password
  • Forum Password
  • cPanel Password

all changed?

Sounds like you went wrong at (4). This box was asking for your cPanel username & password, which should be different from the forum username & password you entered at (2). If you entered the wrong one, nothing was changed (I don't know why it would say the change was successful, though. Another possibility is you did it right, but the system is just being sluggish to update - in which case, try your new password a bit later).

So;

You should be able to change your cPanel/Hosting Account password at (4) (unless there is currently a problem with the system).

You change your forum password after you have logged into the forums, in your Control Panel (or "User CP") then "Edit Email & Password" (column down left-hand side). I think this link should take you straight there ; http://forums.x10hosting.com/profile.php?do=editpassword ;)

You said that http://www.x10hosting.com/account asks for your cpanel username and password which I don't think it does.

Lol. No, I think I said enter your cPanel pass at (4) when you are changing the pass, which is after you have logged into the Hosting Account info page! (unless this password change box isn't for the pass I thought it was for - but it does have the cPanel username displayed above it)

And please see my edit above, "And why is it one has to login to the Hosting Account info page with the username/pass for the forums, but then it displays your other username, for cPanel?" ...which you may have missed because I made it moments before you posted.

...Login at http://www.x10hosting.com/account and choose a new password and press Confirm Hosting Details. Then let it do what it needs to do. You should only press this button once. This, for me, seems to change the cpanel password too....

Surely that's because this box is to change the cPanel pass, not to change the pass one uses to login to the Hosting Account info page (which is the forum pass!)

Now I am really confused! Why can't we just have one username/pass?

I see now that at stage 4 he/she meant he/she was ALREADY logged in. My bad - I deleted the other posts to stop confusion.
