im pretty sure if a real and more accurate study was taken, IE is still going to be the most widely use web browser and this is due to Windows being the most widely used operating system that comes preinstalled on computers and Internet Explorer comes standard with windows

.. .. .. UNTIL NOW!! woohooo!! Windows is no longer allowed to preinstall Internet Explorer to new copies of Windows and users are now given the choice.

but having said that, everyone who is used to Internet Explorer will continue to use IE because that is what they are used to.

but eventually im sure that everyone come to their senses and begin to use firefox or at least some other web browser that actually works properly and doesnt use nearly 50% of your systems resources.

on a different note i have noticed that firefox is starting to use an increasing amount of system resources in the last few releases :(

Windows is no longer allowed to preinstall Internet Explorer to new copies of Windows and users are now given the choice.

That isn't the case for everyone though. The ruling took place in Europe, and unless I've missed something it only applies to products sold there.
