Any idea why sometimes when I upload new files to my account, the new changes do not take effect immediately. I flushed my DNS cache and that didn't work.

I am a teacher and when I first started up my x10hosting account, my changes happened immediately. Yesterday, I made changes and the old page still showed. Even after I removed the index file entirely, I still could see my old page. And it isn't just on my teacher computer, I am a business teacher and have 20 student computers in my room and they were not showing the changes either.

Today, a day later, I am at home and the changes have taken affect. Any idea why this might be? Could it have something to do with the schools server, but that seems odd because after I loaded the files to x10 I checked the index file by clicking on it in x10's public folder and it was correct meaning it had uploaded, but for whatever reason, I could not view the changes when I check the Internet live.

Thanks for any help!

Your server is being migrated to a new machine.
During the process updates are done to one machine, while the Web sees the other (I do not know which happens where).
You should hold off doing upgrades (or make sure you have local copies of all your work) until the migration is stable.
No ETA on when that will be.

Thanks so much, that makes sense. Does this kind of thing happen often or is this just a once in a while event?

Something this major, next to never. They do have minor periodic issues due to abuse of the system by some of the accounts. Those accounts are removed and safeguards put in place, which sometimes causes minor issues in itself. The cost of giving free hosting to just about anybody.
