Soon I will purchase a .co.uk domain name.
Do I need to remove the current site first?

No. Just go to your cpanel and add your domain in "Parked Domains" Option

Also point your domain to x10 Name Server.. i.e

ns1.x10hosting.com
ns2.x10hosting.com
