Some people will always be critical. Linux is the common name for the OS, and a think that was what you were going for. My preference was Windows, but only because I am running Windows 7. It is better than vista, which would've made me vote Linux. ;)

I got Windows 7 Ultimate Signature Edition for hosting a Windows 7 launch party, but my company will also be getting it free for signing up with Microsoft's BizSpark program. If any of you are running a home business, you should google for BizSpark. MSDN Premium included free.

I don't think this will really be of use anywhere except the educational area. Any serious programmer, or serious learner even will want more power and control than this.
