It most certainly isn't the industry standard! There are a lot of alternatives. If you want an IDE (similar to Dreamweaver, but not crap), try Netbeans or Komodo Edit (or IDE if you can afford it, but Komodo Edit, despite the name, is still a good IDE)...

This is exactly why you shouldn't use applications like Dreamweaver. They produce invalid and bloated pages that don't function the same in all browsers.
