Do all other good free web hosts also have this rule of needing to log in to account portal every 30 days? Since if I forgot to do the 30 day thing then my site could end up being deleted as I've heard other people have lost their sites this way.

On the login if you see english at the bottom of the page with the other languages then that can stop you logging in, so you would click "english" if you see it. Also you may have a username with capitals?
