It really depends on what exactly you want it to do. Many software packages like forums and CMS's can be used to display posts/blogs/articles which can be used as news. Many of them also have inbuilt RSS Feeds. Can you explain what you want to do a bit more?

That sort of error usually occurs because you have a space before your '<?php' tag. Check that you have no empty space there. You could also check the encoding of that file, sometimes if you are using the wrong encoding in your text then there can be some text before that tag when you save it.

I have to say that Sunday is the best, although it can really suck if I've been slack on the rest of the weekend and haven't done enough h/w.

I say PHP, mostly because its extremely accessible. Almost anyone should be able to learn enough PHP to make a decent website, without having had any other experiences in different programming languages. I am moving towards Java now, but that is because its a better language than PHP. ;)

I watched the entire first season and maybe half of the next season, got a bit boring and repeatitive. Its too good at sucking you in and then not really doing much. ;)
