hi there guys i thought i would ask a question regarding a problem that has only arisen today and seems to only be one part of the site that i simply cant get to work? when i try to edit my site via sitebuilder specificaly edit my css via the html button the whole browser hangs and doesnt...

oo i tried the code and works fine i just need to find a background pic that gives it a bit more colour whist preserving the loading time and not making it too heavy on loading? bit hard when it repeats getting the pic to look similar when they both join in the middle?:cool:

thanks for that friend its much appreciated not saying that i understand exactly where to putthe image though so will have to play with it and try it out but a good idea using a smaller image and making it repeat ? is there any specific kind of images that work well in template backgrounds?

hi there guys just a quick one that may sound a little daft but wondered how do i apply a picture or a graphic or picture as a web template background basicaly my web sites template has a grey background and wondered how to apply a pic to add some colour or is there another way to do it ...

im not sure i can strip it down any more friend ive even taken off the animated gifs and replaced them with flash animations to give it some more speed whilst keeping the laod time down unless someone can give me specific elements to look at i think at this point im as far as i can go with...

ive changed a few things this morning,to see what they actualy look like firstly changed the body colour to white? yuk it looked totaly lifeless i then put a light grey as a background colour and liked it removed the pics at the top of the page and now it looks a little bit better :biggrin...

a friend in web development ?oo im listening and hope that was an offer :lockd: as for the site im always open to constructive options as long as i get info on how to do it ? is there an easy way of changing the css to something fun and colourfull without causing total mayhem

the cursor follower is there for a bit of fun as anyone can have just a normal curser, as for the css ive changed the original completely and at this stage im not willing to change the style sheet you say i need to change it a lot ! could you give examples as your input is a little vague to say...

added a few more flash animations around the site to spruce up the look! im so glad i took the advice of some of the kind members who critiqued my site and removing the animated gifs ;) again please feel free to pass by and have a look would be even better if you signed my guestbook...

:cool: well after a few months online ive changed quite a few things and have followed some of the critiques of my site removing all of the gifs which where taking a long time to load on slow systems if anyone would like to have another look and give me more advice i would be only too happy...

ok most of the pages have now been changed in the photo section and hoping for a little more feedback from the members ive used the gallery view on the kirkstall abbey link to see what it looks like but in all honesty i dont like it ! feedback would be great guys

going to have a look at this over the weekend ive removed the original sound file on the home page also as it does seem to make the page a little heavy to load , that will do as a start

dont get me wrong i do go along with what boelectronic said and understand that not all countries are as good with broadband as in the uk ok another question? which is the best way to change .gif extensions into .swf files? is there a fast workaround or will it have to be a program like flash?

thanks for the input friend your input is very important indeed im currently looking at better forms of media hosting so that the page isnt graphic heavy when loading ! this evening i will look into changing the file formats of some of the more heavier graphics

again the issue seems to be speed rather than content,im trying to make the most of the bandwidth and i feel by trimming down the content i would lose a certain amount the visual niceaties of the site, the site is purely showcasing photos and experiences with photos so the media has to look...
