Users being added but user email with passwords not going out.

Called Godaddy they say I need a cname pointed to @ at x10. I want be able to type www.mydomain.com or my domain.com in the address bar and have it come up that way and not redirected to sub domain xxx.x10hosting.com. Is this not possible with a free hosting account?
