if you have a modern copy of kde, konqueror would work, it gives a file manager ftp interface similar to doing ftp with windows explorer i also like axyftp ( http://www.wxftp.seul.org/ )

forcing software to conform to the new standards has been micro$oft's MO for like.. forever what are you talking about? OF COURSE vista needs drivers for hardware, just because it might ship with a generic driver that sorta kinda works doesnt mean it doesnt need one.

hmm i would say fedora, but thats just my oppinion, its almost as easy to install as windows and is nt much harder to use for just casual use.. Linux doesnt really get 'hard' untill you try and do something 'technical' in my experience, but then again so can windows be 'hard' at parts
