It's released via Automatic Updates, make sure it is on. If it is and your recieving notthing, thats because it can mess your computer up so they've disabled it for computers like that until they fix it. Try visiting http://update.microsoft.com/

The installer creates auto-backups. I've now installed it, I can't really notice a difference.

There are several which scan your computer online, but I would recommend you DOWNLOAD an anti-virus. If you download it can defend you in millions of ways websites can't. Sorry if this is a little off topic, but I just wanted to express my words.
