It looks pretty good. Your logo is a bit stretched out, I would keep it at its original size, and maybe lightening the text in the logo itself as well. Other than that it looks clean and to the point.

while the background art is kinda cool, I'm not really a fan of the site. For some reason, it just doesn't seem very cohesive to me, like there are separate blocks of stuff, but it doesn't flow together.

A header and footer are important in most websites. You DON'T have to have them, but most use them for better structure in there site. I think your site looks pretty good, though I think that there may be a bit to little room for the actual content.

I think the compressed versions are smaller for one. The code itself is compressed on only a couple lines, making the file smaller. The downside would be that it would be harder to edit.

I agree with the menu on every page. Also, I would change the font on the menu as well, its hard to read.
