    Review Site

Arrived- got login page. Presumably you're going for a private site; otherwise you need to put a compelling reason for your user to bother with the rigmarole of registering Registered. Didn't fill the date in. Got a error page with all the fields blank...you might want to consider a cookie...

    site review

Your site looks like the attached image in a 1024x768 screen. Some people are still on 800x600, so they'd get even more site chopped off. You can sort this quite easily by using percentages instead of fixed pixel dimensions in the stylesheet/table/however you're laying out the site. I'm...

    SMTP Migrane

You're not using SSL are you? 'Cause that's port 465. Hue Kares (good name!) could be right- your ISP could be hoovering up port 25 to stop spammers. If your VB app can cope, it's best to smtp on a custom port...mail clients can handle that. Or if you're on a shared cache-ing proxy from...

What do you think of my website logo?

I like it. If I were to do anything to it now, it would be the drop-shadow under the wording. It's a little dark and sharp, so I'd seriously blur it and use transparency on the layer until it looks 'right'. Also, I'd move the shadow left a bit. But that's just tweaking the tweaks. It's...

Updating a logo (1000+, paypal as well)

This is probably in the "too intricate" class EDIT: and I forgot to change the colour of the cogs. DOH! EDIT AGAIN: Even so, they should get rid of the joomla favicon. First impressions and all that.

Updating a logo (1000+, paypal as well)

Double-check the offset litho thing. I haven't priced up a print job for 4 years & something may have changed in the meantime. But that's why most (all?) big company logos are 1 or 2 colour. Unless it's a web-only company & they don't care how many of your pixels they use...but they'll still...

Updating a logo (1000+, paypal as well)

No damage. And litho printing wasn't mentioned: Last time I checked (and that was a while ago), litho printing was the most cost-effective way of getting >1000 copies printed. The actual printing costs almost nothing...what costs is the design and having the (up to 4: CMYK) colour plates...

Updating a logo (1000+, paypal as well)

I'm just posting as they occur to me. Those 3 logos aren't in the same thread because they didn't exist before I posted them. Might look like spamming, but it's just stream-of-conciousness. Well the original design brief was this: I read that as "same-ish but sleeker", dunno about you. In...

Is religion a valid argument in debate?

Going to have to disagree there. In a science versus religion; science will win every time because you always have the option of learning the background and verifying the facts for yourself by performing the experiment. That's what science is. Repeatable. Religion, on the other hand is...

Updating a logo (1000+, paypal as well)

Heh. The above looks like a tampon ad with the swirly font. This is better. Forgot to mention- fonts are freeware & come with the logo, as do the source files. I'm just chucking ideas in- if you want a composite of features (font from logo 3; 'automation bar' from logo 5; symbol from logo 1...

What do you think of my website logo?

A little extreme, but the image should be sharp then. Must be the glow.

What do you think of my website logo?

I'd lose the glow on the icons if it were me. Makes it look out of focus. Also, work on your image at least twice the size it's going to be & then resize it down as the last thing you do....hides mistakes & your end image is sharper.

    Help Fixing Wordpress theme

Were you editing the file on your site 'live' with dreamweaver or something? That always stuffs the site whenever I've attempted it...to the tune of needing a database flush and reinstall. You may find these helpful: http://www.skybound.ca/ (free version works fine)...

I've been busy this week: military clothing site

Good catch Zenax...completely forgotten about that. I would have got it eventually, but I had the section down as 'done' in my head. A shopping cart in 3 languages is a nightmare...there's bits hanging out all over the place.

    Trying to set up Drupal

The script isn't finding the file. The clue above is in the "myname" bit of the URL. There's a line of code -probably in a config file- that should have been changed to the path for your hosting account but wasn't. /home/myname/public_html/ should be changed to something like...
