You should see the option to View Hidden Files the next time you re-open File Manager - provided you didn't last time also select the option to not be asked again!

I'm currently trying out www.Pidgin.im , because it works with multiple IRC & IM clients all in the 1 interface (I can simultaneously use it for Google Talk, for example). But I'll probably give these other suggestions a try, as they may have more advanced features for IRC alone.

I suspect that you just viewed it within cPanel's File Manager, but when you opened the File Manager, you forgot to select the option to view hidden files. :)
