GD is enabled and works. And any .php file should be 0755, not 0777, on the current set up on the free servers.

I don't think that is possible with the way PHP is run on the servers. People have tried to use Apache directives in .htaccess to make the server parse .html files as PHP with no success. Maybe try: Rename the file from myfile.png to myfile.php. My guess is that it is actually a PHP file...
