Yeah, it was all done using the pen tool. It's my first piece using the pen tool, so hopefully it will get better in time. I see what you're saying though with the rough edges - I tried to fix most of them, but I guess I missed a lot haha. Thank you for all the comments!

Excellent job! The font on the main page isn't a huge problem, but contrast would benefit the design. The same goes for the first layout that you designed, the black is pretty hard to read. The overall color scheme looks like deviantart's color scheme, but that's alright. I like it though...

I have never created icons before... so I'm not sure how good these are. However, everything is completely customizable. The size is just so you can see the details. If you like them, I'll resize them to fit the 22 x 20 specifications. =]

There are courses at colleges that teach the concepts of graphics design and web design. I'd suggest searching the web for tutorials on the programs you wish to learn. If the tutorials aren't sufficient, then take a class because you'll be able to get real life help and such.

Professional sites are usually clean-looking, well-organized, and are easy to navigate through. There should be a general color scheme for the website which should be easy on the eyes. The fonts used should also be pretty easy to read and not kiddish looking (no comic sans haha).
