    ok retried something that had not previously worked butjust did : create another user altogether. for some reason, the existing user i had set up can not be made to work, but a new user does. go figure. thanks all for helping

    Still no SQL functionality on BORU

    php-based website still not functionning on BORU today. changed site's settings (set db host to 'localhost') and recreated db user with all privileges as advised in various posts, still getting "error establishing a database connection'. any thoughts ?
