Already posted about that, got no answer, trying again.

1- php-based, sql-backed wordpress site, used to work flawlessly

2- bunch of upgrades, server migrations, whatever. This is a free service, so I am no mad, just concerned that something might be overlooked.

3- site now doesn't work, and hasn't for a week now, and sends back an 'Error establishing a database connection" message.

SQL server used to be int-boru, I tried replacing this by mysql-boru or a simple 'localhost' in the wordpress wp-config.php, without success. Also tried to reset the DB user privileges as hinted in another thread, no success either.

All I'd ask would at least be a 'yeah, we have a problem here, will be fixed when it gets fixed', that way i'd stop wondering and just be patient. But apparently, this is not the case.

SO. Any thoughts ?

Please try:

1. cPanel --> MySQL Databases

Current Databases

aaa_jo151 0.00 MB aaa_jo151 X Delete Database

Click on the user
Check ALL PRIVILEGES on the next screen Even if all the other boxes are checked, check "ALL"
Click "Save Changes"
Repeat for all db users

2. Make sure your wordPress configuration file has the datbasehost set to 'localhost' and nothing else.

DBHost should be localhost

login to cpanel
goto mysql databases
drop the user(Don't delete the user or database)
reassign the user to database with all privileges

EDIT:

oops late. :)

Thanks to all who answered.

but again, this is not working.

by saying 'drop the user from db' I assume you mean, once in cpanel / mysql databases, to go to the 'current databases' section, then click on the red cross right next to the assigned user ('deluserfromdbconfirm') ? Cause that's the closest thing to a 'drop' that i can see here, since it doesn't delete the user altogether but simply removes it from the database.

If so, that is what i did, about 4 times now. Dropped user, reassigned it to database, clicked 'ALL PRIVILEGES' then 'make changes'. Also, dbhost in wp-config.php is set to 'localhost'.

anything else we might be overlooking ?

EDIT : i had first gone for the simpler option, hinted by Descalzo, which was to update user privileges without dropping it, hadn't worked either.

ok retried something that had not previously worked butjust did : create another user altogether.

for some reason, the existing user i had set up can not be made to work, but a new user does.

go figure.

thanks all for helping
