Hi there,

I installed a forum onto my website when I first got it, it's free software called SMF (Simple Machines Forum). It was working fine and installed with no problems, however today when i've tried access it (http://fancyrats.x10hosting.com/forum/) I have received a 500 error.

The full text reads:
Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@fancyrats.x10hosting.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/1.3.39 Server at fancyrats.x10hosting.com Port 80

Until this morning I have been using the standard placeholder index page initially on any x10 account, and I could access http://fancyrats.x10hosting.com/ with no problems. I have now installed my own test page, and can still access this with no problems. It ONLY occurs when trying to access the forum folder. The index file for the forum is a php file, and I wonder if this my be relevant?

I have checked my CHMOD, and even changed everything to 777, and the error still occurs. I uploaded the site using flashFXP, and my details are as follows
Username: fancyrat
Domain: fancyrats.x10Hosting.com
Hosting Package: Adfree

I read on another users thread that he was having the same problem but that if he refreshed multiple times the page appeared, this does not seem to be the case on my site.

I have cleared my cache etc, and restarted my browser, and even tried it in 2 different browsers (Fire Fox and IE) and the error still occurs.

[Edit]I also googled this error, and saw that some people suggested that this my be to do with the htaccess file, and suggested backing up and then deleting this file, i tried that and the error reoccured. I have sinced re uploaded the htaccess file.[/edit]

Many thanks for your attention. If you need any further info, or can think of anything else I can try, please let me know :)
