500 Internal Server Errors & php scripts not working anymore

I've never had this problem before. All of a sudden, my php scripts have stopped working. I changed the file permissions to all combinations possible and I still get a 500 Internal Server Error. They used to be 777 but that doesn't work anymore. 755 doesn't work either.

Fortunately, my perl scripts are still working, the problem is that I am getting database connection errors all the time, so my website is practically dead.

Please help with these issues. Thanks.

No. But I'm worried about that. I can't remove spam and ban people.
