slowly, slowly, slowly, we narror us the target for starting the installation. -4 days behind the planning

a new week, new hope and the big wish: a better start with x10h.com :naughty:

yesterday FTP was down, works / yeyesterday no cPanel X access, works,
frontpage and blind pages for the testwiki was down, works...
(http://wikimusic.x10hosting.com/ and http://wikimusic.x10hosting.com/testwiki/index.html )
No access via a seperate Backupping sytem to the two dbases set up, but now it works, both dBases are recognized each connected with one test user.

Good, very good, little hope behind the horizon with the lame x10h.com.

But, But, But now this...
for the URL http://wikimusic.x10hosting.com/testwiki/index.php

http://wikimusic.x10hosting.com/testwiki/index.php5 instead the 500 Server error ??????

And the lternative:

If I overjump the regular access (which is possible) the installatin can start here...
http://wikimusic.x10hosting.com/testwiki/config/ or
http://wikimusic.x10hosting.com/testwiki/config/index.php
http://wikimusic.x10hosting.com/testwiki/config/index.php5 instead the 500 Server error ??????

What to do ?? - Here is the server log (I crossed (x) the client IP address) ...

Add this to your .htaccess file in your root web directory (public_html):

Code:
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php5

If that doesn't work, do you mind posting/pming me the contents of that file, so I can check whether anything else is causing the error to appear?

500 server error without .htaccess...

Add this to your .htaccess file in your root web directory (public_html):

Code:
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php5
If that doesn't work, do you mind posting/pming me the contents of that file, so I can check whether anything else is causing the error to appear?

Copy of the IM Chat log...

[20:27] @: Hello, Synkc !
[20:27] synkc@... appears offline. Your message may not be received.
[20:28] @: thank's for your code information referring ".htaccess". Unluckily to say, I have no .htacces activated at x10h.com (??????? :dunno:)
[20:30] @: so from where comes the problem (?) - In the past was set a .htaccess but I neutralized the files because I thought it might be the reason for the 500-Server error. But still if you look at http://wikimuic.x10hosting.com/wiki/index.php (or .../index5.php) the message pops up.
[20:30] @: What might be the reason for because the .htaccess doesn't exist for this directory.

If you log in via an ftp you will then see your .htaccess file. It's a hidden file.

from where does come a .htaccess with "0" bits??

Unluckily to say, I have no .htacces activated at x10h.com (??????? :dunno:)

ha... that's what I maintained this morning via FTP on the server. Neutralisation of the .htaccess. I just come back from the server via FTP, and what do I find ?? .

(P.S.: I have looked via cPanelX, the former .htaccess proteced directories (root, testwiki and wiki are opened. No more proteced. Maybe still in the dbase hangs a command around to set a new one automatically.)

[20:30] @: What might be the reason for because the .htaccess doesn't exist for this directory.

In the Root directory is a .htaccess again, I opened it via ascii editor and ?? No content inside a NEW innocent .htaccess of "0" bits size with a sweet mile  in it's face. And me looking like that :rant2::thefinger

Strange, very strange... Does somebody make with me a joke ?? - Has a 3rd person access to my server I do not know ??? Is my account not safe ??? :lockd: <- But I want it safe !!!

Would thank you for your quick advice and don't let bother you with so many smilies. Normally I like pure text, but I have to let my energy anywhere with this curious strange odd thing.

Still a WikiMusician is of hope to come forward. -5 Days and no installed MediaWiki in view. I want my Wiki. See you, JayAr from WikiMusic / Europe/Germany/Hamburg...
Edit:
If you log in via an ftp you will then see your .htaccess file. It's a hidden file.

Shure... I have access to the .htaccess files. (Guys, I am battling with Internet since 1994. These basics I am really confidences.) O.K. you cannot know with whom you are in contact. I feel good with your different advices. What I am totally new is php and SQL, that's dessert land for me, or No-where's-Land ??

I already installed two MediaWikis. So I would say, even this part I can handle. But not a new into my server beamed .htaccess I took out in the morning, and hours later it's back. What's that ?? Never heard from such a strange thing.

Hope hearing from you soon... JayAr.

Also, do this.. Go to your site, and cause the 500 error.. Login to your cPanel, go to Logs section, the Server logs.. Read it, and see if you can figure it out. If not, post the time you went to the site, (minutes, mainly) and the log it shows in cPanel.

Re: 500 server error.... Log

I do not really understand why you'd like to see the log again (see down under already posted). The same status all day. But again here are the documentations out of the log with the message text on the screen: The time stamps you can see 06:05 pm and 06:09 pm

The fun with x10hosting.com is gone... every day another problem. Wasting too much time with no positive results at all over 3 weeks:

1.) regular url for the access to the installation front end:

Thats a pretty simple fix, most likely. Take these steps:
1) login to cPanel
2) Click on file manager
3) Click on wiki folder under public_html
4) click on config folder
5) Select the index.php file
6) click on Change Permissions
And, then a window should pop up. User should be read write and exicute,
Group should be read and execute, and world also read and execute. (It should say 755 at the bottom)
7) Click the change permission button

This should fix it, if not, the error in the server log will change.

Also, don't talk bad about our hosting, we are trying to help you. Some users require more than others.

Also, when you first click on file manager a window will pop up asking what you want to view, click on "Show hidden files (dotfiles) and click on go, now you can see your .htaccess file, click it and select edit Add this at the bottom and click on "Save Changes"
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php5
