you have not posted in the right section in my opinion but have you checked if index.html is really overwritten?

when you upload an allready existing file through the file manager you have to choose to overwrite it.
you can also delete index.html before you upload the new
the directory you upload to is correct, don t forget to clear your browser when changes are not visible after the update

I am also having the same problem. Uploaded all my site files and made sure that index.html has been overwritten with my own version. I have cleared my browser cache and also tried with a different browser.

it might be worth to check if /public_html/index.html is actually really overwritten, click to view or edit and see if that is your content or default page content

if you forget to tick the overwrite box before uploading with cpanel it will probably not overwrite

sorry reading back again i see you allready did all that can you provide a link so others can tell you if they get one or the other page?

i am sorry to tell you that it looks to me like you might have overwritten something else

because i see the default page too, are you sure you replaced ...public_html/index.html ???

also please make sure that you did not name it something like Index.html or something like that (notice index.html has no caps in it)

Definitely not overwritten anything else, all file names are in lower case. Had it working fine on my old hosting too.

well to be honest i don t know any other reasons, you can try deleting index.html then clear the browser and see if the page is not found anymore.. if not found upload the new index.html again

dunnow might be worth a try

@bits_york: what I see is an apache success page, that is not the default index.html page, that is a page shown when there is no index page to show, which tells me something is not right with your account as you should either see your page or a welcome to your new hosting page...

You probably need to submit a ticket to get that one sorted, it might solve it self given some time as I see you did create the account today, but I doubt that

btw, it is not really nice to hijack others threads with your own problems...

because of this line i thought apachesucces was the default

If you can see this page, then the people who manage this server have installed cPanel and WebHost Manager (WHM) which use the Apache Web server software and the Apache Interface to OpenSSL (mod_ssl) successfully. They now have to add content to this directory and replace this placeholder page, or else point the server at their real content.

also if i remember correctly when i started here i saw that very same page

Sorry about that. I assumed the OP was having the same problem as myself and thought it would be better to post here rather than starting another thread with the same problem.

Anyhow, I have submitted a support ticket with the problem, as I have also noticed if I try to access any other html files I have uploaded, I get a 404 error.

Many Thanks for taking the time to help out!

my guess would still be that it s all in a subfolder or at least a different directory than public_html, but you got me curious so please post back what the problem was, goodluck
