Yes, it would be a wonderful thing.
There, however, is many problems with that.
1. Many users do not have a current or valid ( or even posted for whatever reason ) e-mail address. We can't send e-mails to accounts that don't go to the right person.
2. Many e-mails would get bounced back or sent to spam / junk folders. Again, the user wouldn't see the notice anyway.
3. A lot of e-mail services ( due to abusive users ) already consider x10's e-mails as spam or worse, so may not deliver the e-mail.
Plus, it would just add more stress and strain to a system that has seen its better days.
