I have just been trying to install some software in my hosting account and it says:

\"Suspension Reason: Vbulletin install detected, but no license # in the files. [lwscanner].
Unfortunately this suspension is not able to be resolved automatically. To resolve this suspension please open a support ticket.\"

I have looked into this further to try and find the license # and found out that it isn\'t free software and is in fact an illegal copy. Is there anyway I can have this software deleted and my hosting account resumed?

It was uploaded into \"public_html/forums\"

I also had software in \"public_html/forum\" and I planned to try out a few others too. Is this ok or is this also an illegal copy?

Sorry for my ignorance, I am new to forums and am trying to find one that is suitable...

This is a permanent suspension; a simple glance at vB's home page turns up that it's about $145-195 (I forget which) for the regular forum, let alone the suite which is a further few hundred dollars. When getting software online, great care -must- be taken to ensure the legitimacy of the site. The sad part is their homepage is the first when searching on google for it.

I can understand this probably isn't going to make the day go any easier, but it's considered warez and copyright infringement, which are two sections of the TOS that we have no tolerance for violations on. We cannot remove this suspension.

I am saddened by your response but I understand. I acquired a pack of forums listed as free and was going to test them individually as you can see from my account. I really had no idea that the software was illegal or I would not of gone near it.

I will make sure to check out software in future. Guess I need to find a new host now too :(

For what it's worth, you'd still be able to make a new account once this one terminates out of the system; it's an automatic process that usually occurs shortly after 14 days of being suspended, although it sometimes takes longer.

Once it terminates, you're more than welcome to recreate an account; just make sure whether you go to another host or not, check into the software -very- carefully. I can also tell you if it comes from one of the following groups, avoid it like the plague: DGT, x-Mobile. These are two of the more popular warez release groups - they don't release anything legal, so if it says it's by them, skip it.

Thanks for the info Livewire.

Unfortunately I had already created an account with a new host before I saw your last message.

Anyways I wouldn't of been able to wait for 2 weeks at the minimum to get things going again. But I do thank you very much for your understanding with this matter and giving me a second chance to return to X10 in the future. I will definitely consider using your service again in the future should the need arise or things not work out with my new host.

I have never been to DGT or x-Mobile's site and do not plan on doing but again thanks for the heads up

I dunno if DGT or xmobile actually have websites; I just know a lot of their illegal scripts are being trafficked in a -lot- of different places, so if you see their name attached to a file, skip it :)

Ahh I see, thanks for clearing that up. Thinking about it I think the file I had a prefix of SF before the actual name of the forum software. Obviously as I am new to forums I wasn't aware of that and just presumed it to be a nickname for the software like in Janty Ubuntu etc

So I would add SF to the avoid list if anybody else comes across this thread. There obviously not as big of a group as the others or I guess Livewire would of mentioned them.
