Ok, so I used the search function and could not find a similar thread. Hopefully I did not overlook anything and I'm posting this in the right place. Apologies otherwise.

So I have set willhockaday.com as my addon domain for dekker.exofire.net. Changes took effect quicker than I expected, however, if I go to willhockaday.com it merely forwards me to dekker.exofire.net. Is this how domain addons work for free hosting accounts, or is there something I can do to achieve willhockaday.com remaining in the url, aside from setting up a frame elsewhere?

(On an unrelated note, the PHP restrictions made it so that Wordpress would not login. I stupidly tried to change it to the third level of restriction without realizing it was unavailable to free accounts, and now the second level is pending. Is it known if the second level fixes this?)

Hi,

It sounds like there is something wrong with your .htaccess file. Check them and see if it's causing the add-on to redirect. It should not be doing that.

Regarding the PHP question, intermediate(v2) works with wordpress.

Ok, thank you. I will see if that is the issue and if not I will create a new thread or re-open this one.
Edit:
Actually that does not appear to be the issue. My .htaccess files are fine.

Additionally, it does not redirect for Cpanel, it only redirects on port 80.

Your problem is that you set the document root for your add-on to /public_html

It should have it's own folder.

Actually, I have changed the configuration so that the addon domain willhockaday.com should point to /public_html/willhockaday and instead I get a directory listing of public_html that is still a redirection... Maybe it just takes a while for the switch to happen, although it happened much faster last time.

EDIT:
Ok, so now after playing with it for a while... wiki.willhockaday.com works just fine and points to /public_html/wiki.... However, willhockaday.com still does not work. I even renamed its directory to /public_html/willhockaday.com and made the according setting changes to match, incase for some reason it desired the same name for root directory and domain... But it still just redirects me to dekker.exofire.net, and I have no redirection setup. I am especially confused that the subdomain works but the domain doesn't.

SECOND EDIT:
Additionally, I tried setting willhockaday.com to /home/dekker/willhockaday.com (versus /home/dekker/public_html/willhockaday.com) and setting wiki.willhockaday.com to /home/dekker/willhockaday.com/wiki. All that happened was that an hour later both the domain and subdomain were modified to point to a directory underneath public_html. Now I have them set to /public_html/willhockaday.com and /public_html/willhockaday.com/wiki (for sake of maintaining hierarchy). Once again wiki.willhockaday.com works and willhockaday.com forwards me to dekker.exofire.net. It is almost as if the change to pointing underneath public_html had no effect and it still thinks it's set to point to public_html, which results in forwarding due to what Corey said earlier.

Okay, I've re-made the entries by hand but it is still happening. I think this is the first problem I've never been able to solve ;)

I'll have to look at it again in a bit.

Any ideas? I know I'm on free hosting but I am planning to purchase an account eventually.

Are you opposed with terminating and re-creating your account?

There has to be a bug with something somewhere, I've rebuilt all entries manually by hand and it's still messed up.

Actually, I'm fine with terminating my account and starting a new one. Will I be able to use the same username? If you want to feel free to delete my account for me and I will start a new one. There is no important data that I have not backed up.

I think I know what the problem is.
The problem is with the configuration of your script, in this case WordPress, which redirects all URL's to the URL you've set-up.
WordPress saves the URL in the database, so you can't change it modifying a file.

Login to WordPress AdminCP and there should be an option to change the SiteURL, you should change it there.

Tell me if it worked or not, if it doesn't we'll re-create your hosting account.

I removed the account. Go here: http://x10hosting.com/logout

Then sign-up again. I'll leave this open in case there are any issues, sometimes all the entries for domains and such are not removed upon termination.

Yes, it works! Awesome. Thank you for your help and for not dismissing this as user error.
Edit:
Actually, one minor issue: My account claims to be using the intermediate version of PHP (which supports wordpress from my experience) but seems to actually be using the basic version since I am receiving the same error upon login that I used to before I had the intermediate version.

You need to wait for about 6-12 hours for the upgrade to work.
