Ads help for WordPress

I just got my site running on wordpress, and I need ads placed on the site.
I know theres a simple FAQ that tells me how, I tried that and ads were popping up everywhere. behind objects, in sidebars, you name it.
Is there any way that someone can help me make a box specifically for the right sidebar where ads will only appear there?

Login to your wordpress admin section, under theme designs, click on sidebar.php. Just past the adcode under the affliates section and save the changes. The ads will start to appear on every page.
