Akismet API Key

hi,

i'm using wordpress and get asked to update my Akismet plugin. When i try to do this i see a message saying there's a firewall between Akismet and my host.

has anyone come across this? how do i update Akismet on wordpress? where's the firewall section on the cpanel?

if you know what i'm talking about, please assist

X10 is disallowing a remote file access.

Translation: X10 has the php commands blocked that Wordpress uses to automatically update itself and its plugins, for security reasons (among others as well I'm sure). It can't connect and download the file it needs from Wordpress's update source.


Not sure how to update it manually, but that's what you're gunna end up doing - see if Wordpress's FAQ has directions on how to manually download the updated plugin to your computer and upload it to your Wordpress installation - that's all that the Auto Update actually does anyways.

Just download the latest update and then ftp or upload it to your plugins folder overwriting the older version. Make sure it's activated in your plugins admin.

Yeah, just follow Livewire's instructions and all should be fine.
Auto Updaters don't really work on X10 because of, remote file access. But they can notify you when and update for a plugin you have installed in WP is available.
