It's a waste, but the irony is if someone already HAS that domain, you can't have it.

My one question is would it be possible for someone to buy the domain that aol is using as someones email thing? Cause if it is, they're setting themselves up for some serious problems. Not exactly hard to steal an email account if you just pay $5 to register the domain and set up an email with the exact same address :S

Well, when registered, the domain is registered under your name, not AOL's. But yeah, it is a waste.

Wow I think that's so knubby and dumb think about this scenerio:

"You wake up one day, you are feeling absolutely 1337; nothing can stand in your way, you RULE the day with an iron fist. You are also feeling creative at the moment and decide to start a whole new Internet community based on graphics design. You plan out everything, you put everything together(coding the pages, making graphics, assembling staff, etc.) and to finish it all off, using your superior intellect you make up an absolutely AWESOME domain name: youruber1337namehere.com. You tell your best friend about the domain name, he then vows not to tell any people who are not trustworthy about the domain. He then goes and tells someone who he thinks he can trust. He is right, this other person is indeed trustworthy, but then this friend tells another person he thinks he can trust about the domain. This guy is wrong. The guy he tells about the domain turns out to be a friggin' retarded nubsteroo. The nubsteroo somehow comes across this AOL service and uses the domain for himself. Now your plan is effed up. Now your whole community is a failure unless a miracle can help you find another equally awesome domain that fits the theme you wanted. You are losing hope quickly. Thoughts of emocide tempt you every second. Now you are pissed at AOL(and the nubsteroo). 3 years from now you become a terrorist. You pwn AOL for ruining your dreams. Many nubs across the nation(who use AOL) become mad at you. They hire a sniper to pwn you. The sniper pwnz0rs you t0 t3h m4x. You are dead."

however nice a free domain would be, having no control over it (aol reserves the right to terminate access) makes me never want to use that service.

?!? They retain control over it? Well then HELL NO I don't want to use it.

I mean, think about it - register with @omgwtfbbq.com, they register it, next month it's terminated. Someone registers omgwtfbbq.com, and sets up an email user WITH YOUR EXACT EMAIL. Email harvesting BEGIN.

Not a good scenario is it?

3 words for you:

STOP PLAYING CS!

Lol I don't type like that from playing CS, I actually picked it up just from talking to other nerds and actually Halo was a big influence on my language because I usually say "pwn" or "1337" atleast 40 times whenever I play Halo.

I hate AOL anyways, you can't use them for websites, and they're only available in the US. What a waste of domains.
