Apple Protection Plan

Hi,
I'm considering buying an apple powerbook pro costing in the region of £1400.
It comes with a 1 year warranty as standard, but do you think it would be good to shed out another £250 on the apple protection plan, which covers the laptop for 3 years.
I am asking this because Apples are supposedly quite sturdy and not likely to break, so it might not be worth while spending the extra.
Thanks for your opinions,
Alexis

apple powerbook pro

You're getting ripped off! The PowerBooks are over a year old! Get the new MacBook Pro! ;)

Nah, I'm joking.

And don't get the plan. Extended warranties are absolute crap; you'll never need the protection.

if you're spending that much on a device, i would absolutely recommend to you to buy the extended warranty, even if it does cost a good chunk of the price of the device

Actually I personally wouldn't jump into that assumption right away about Apple laptops (being quite sturdy etc.). IMO, they're just overpriced with a nicer facade than most other laptops, but that's just my own opinion, in the inside, I'm inclined to believe that they're more or less the same like any other laptop. But I still like Macs anyhow.

They have their share of problems too (esp. earlier built laptops. E.g.: warping plastic on the Macbook and the extremely overheating Macbook Pro. Both examples, that my friends showed me in person when that happened).

I personally don't think an extended warranty is worth it. Also, see if your credit card offers you extended warranty protection anyway (I know my Debit Mastercard offers the extended 1 year warranty effective after the original warranty expires)

I was thinking that if the laptop was going to go wrong, it would probably happen within the first year.
