I am also using php Quick Arcade on my friends-alumni site.
I'm not sure where you are getting your games, but they have to be formatted to work with the arcade script. The best place to download games is:
http://www.ibpdownloads.com/
(15 free downloads per day, unless you want to pay for more and get the newest games they have to offer)
There are other places, but sometimes the games don't work from the other places.
The easiest way to add games:
Upload to "Tars" folder.
Choose "Tar Method" in the "Add Games" menu.
Sometimes you have to move "game data" from one folder to another.
