I don't. I would if there was much worthwhile backing up, and... was actually planning on using the VPS *as* a backup! Haven't managed to set it up as a Samba or CIFS or whatever server yet, though.

I back up very extremely rarely so I voted that I don't need one. I don't have anything important enough on my VPS to back it up (yet) :p.

I have a rather complex backup system consisting of a number of PHP scripts and Cron Jobs.
Basically: MySQL databases are optimized and backed up daily and my "public_html" folder is backed up weekly. These backups are then FTPed to a network harddrive at my house.
I also use the backup system in HyperVM to do whole system backups weekly.

So far I've never had to use my backups... *touch wood*

Speaking of backups, anyone know why the ftp backups on zodiac no longer work?

Yes, but not frequent enough

Backups are essential for me, but restore is more important.

I have much to learn with linux and make silly mistakes and having to redo all that I had previously done, replace and reconfigure is a real bind and a big waste of time if I can backup, experiment, fail and step back to the working backup.

I also have a text file with a list of commands that are all in order so should I really screw up I can just copy/paste the sequence to get back up and running.

Still, bu/restore is the first option when I goof!
