Hello. I used to have the game "Barrack" (simple yet impressive), from Ambrosia Software, quite many years ago. It worked OK on my Mac (System 8 at that time) and it was so much fun that I paid the shareware fee to have the game as I should. After many years of Windows, then of Ubuntu/Windows (double boot), now I'm going back to Mac OS X on a custom made computer, and I'd like to know if anyone has tried Barrack running under Classic (kinda system 9 emulation, am I right?) on Mac OS X.

Thanks a lot, and please excuse my english.

PS: It's gonna be a triple-boot computer: Mac OS X, Ubuntu, and Windows.

I haven't tried Barrack. But just one note. It's violating the apple eula to install OSX on anything other than apple hardware. I'm just bringing this up because "custom made computer" doesn't sound like an apple. ;)

Ain't it OK if you LEGALLY BUY your copy of the O.S.?

I happen to have a somewhat old Mac that some company does not need anymore, and I CAN buy the new O.S. but, instead of installing it on that old Mac, I'll see if I can install it on a custom-made computer.

OTOH, if you can try Barrack, do it. It's great.

And I also miss "Jump Zampoli". Another GREAT Mac game. Also very simple yet addictive, with great sound, EXCELLENT graphics for the time, which include the possibility to change the colour palette. And those colour palettes were TRULY designed by graphics specialists and/or artists. Perhaps the same ones that did the game art.

I've read that runs OK under Classic on OS X. If you have the chance, try it too.

Thing is, I'm not a games' loving person. I especially loathe those games with MANY commands, with multiple keyboard-choice ammo, and all that. I don't care about gazzillions of poligons rendered in a gazzillionth of a second on a video card with gazillions of RAM. I DO like some games with SIMPLE AND WEW RULES, like Snood, Jump Zampoli, Barrack, SameGame, etc.

Ta-daaaa!
