This is a quote from the blog of Scott Adam's, the creator of Dilbert (which can be found here: http://dilbertblog.typepad.com/ ):

"I find that I get mad about all the wrong things. For example, when I hear a news report about some serial killer who buried forty-three victims in an underground bunker that he constructed beneath his shed, my first reaction is "wow, he built an underground bunker under a shed!" I find myself admiring his industriousness and passion in the pursuit of his dreams. That's clearly wrong."

I love the tone that Adams employs. Deliciously satirical with a dash of morbid humour tossed in for good effect.

Some of my favourites from the founding fathers of the USA:

"Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master." - George Washington

"Fear is the foundation of most governments." - John Adams

"Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both." - Benjamin Franklin

"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." - Benjamin Franklin

I disagree with the idea that freedom is obedience to the laws of nature.
I do not understand what that means. According to the history of human
progress, it is disobedience that to nature that has constituted that
progress.......................................Swami Vivekananda(1863-1902)

To prevent your defeat, ask idea from first bench people
To achieve success, ask idea from last bench people.

What do you think the best quote is?

Mine: "When the rich wage war, it's the poor who die"

I find this to be sadly true because most people join the military because of the "benefits" that you get for joining.

They say:

> They will pay for your college.
> They say there is a small chance that you will go over seas (But look where my friend is now...)
> They say that you will be finantualy secured.

But they forget to say:

> You might lose your life...

The quote that I find to be very influentual in my life is:

"The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry."
In To a Mouse by Robert Burns

It is very true. If you have not listened to Hands Held High by Linkin Park I suggest that you do.

i enjoy geeky quotes such as:

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning. - Rick Cook, The Wizardry Compiled

and

If computers get too powerful, we can organize them into a committee... that will do them in. - Bradley's Bromide

but my Favorite of all time is:

A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for - John A. Shedd

My favourite quote of all time, and most likely my lifelong adage would have to be:

"There's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I like to think that I walk that line every day of my life."

The remedy for weakness is not brooding over weakness, but thinking
of strength. Teach men of the strength that is already within them.
