cannot access via ftp program

I tried to change my domain from elcat.x10hosting.com to elcat.co.cc yesterday, and since then I cannot access via ftp program even after I re-adjust the host and username details as instructed on the ftp setup page.
What else should I do?

Should work. What error message does your FTP client give? Can you access your website via browser? cPanel access OK?

the message was "unable to connect, please try again"
cPanel and web file manager worked but not ftp program... I thought it was a bit odd so I decided to ask here.

Good news: the ftp program is able to link again today, the server must have been changing the details yesterday...
