Cannot do anything in filemanager

For some reason the file manager won't let me upload, delete or edit files. I've tried it using FTP instead, but I get a 'permission denied' error. Can you help me?
I can't even insert the ad code into my Joomla template until this is fixed.

Some of your files weren't owned to you, I re-owned them. See if this fixed your issue.
