Are you sure you have an .htaccess file at all?

will that is good as you can 'see' dot files...

some CMS like to add one in their sub-folder(s)

while using the [ cPanel-x3 ] theme (not x10hosting Basic)
by clicking the "Switch Theme" button at the top on the screen (after you Sign-in at [ https://www.x10hosting.com/sso/login ]) - you can choose between [ x10Hosting Basic ] and [ cPanel-x3 ] themes

on cPanel's home page click on [ File Manager ]

if you see a pop-up be sure "Show Hidden Files (dotfiles)" check mark is set before you click on [ Go ]
if you do not receive the 'pop-up' -- near bottom of cPanel's Home (main) page - click on [ Reset All Interface Settings ] - then click on [ FileManager ] - then set check mark for "Show Hidden Files (dotfiles)" in the pop-up dialog box

at far top-right of [ File Manager ] home page
'Search' --> set [ All Your Files ] --> 'For' set [ .htaccess ] --> [ Go ]

you account may not have any [ .htaccess ] file(s)

That's what I am trying to figure out. I have been looking, googling, reading the forums, but they say the same thing "check a box and it will work."

I do not have a box to check, and if I do not have that file, how do I get it/what do I do, and can I create it myself??

If you can see .htpasswds, then you would be able to see .htaccess if it exists. Both are dot files, which means that both are hidden or shown the same way. It doesn't, so you can't. You'll need to create one.

And how do I do that, just create a file named ".htaccess" ?

Yes. And then you would edit and enter in the directives you wish to use.

I was doing some research because I was tired of waiting 5 minutes to see what changes I made on my freelance website, and I found this

" Header set Cache-Control "max-age=0, private, no-cache, no-store, must-revalidate" "

I was told to put that in the .htaccess file.
