Hello,

I set uo SMF 2.0RC2 and cannot get e-mail activitation or newsletter to work.

I have tried PHP and all variations of SMTP: Ports 25, 26 with mail.brainresearch.x10hosting.com as a server & Port 465 with stoli.x10hosting.com as SMTP server.

I also tried entering my username as username+brainresearch.x10hosting.comandusername@brainresearch.x10hosting.com, but none of these options succeeded.

Some attempts gave me a 500 or 110 error in the SMF log, but most of them gave me no error at all, the e-mail simply did not arrive.

I can send and receive with Thunderbird from this account.

Thanks for any ideas.

Brahman

I don't know about SMF 2.0 because I didn't go for it as it is RC

I am using smf 1.1.11 and the activation mail type is php default

nothing more settings.

And all users who register on my site gets their activation mail normally.

Just tried that again too - but did not work. No entry in the SMF error log, so it must have connected but did not go out.

ok
then fill only the SMTP port is 25 and SMTP password is your cpanel password. remain leave blank.

Actually you don't need to fill if you select the PHP default mail system. But worth to try.

By the way which server you are on?

Thank you for your advice, gsonline.

I am on stoli.x10 server.

However, right now - for the last hours - I cannot even get into SMF. Every time I am trying to connect to the site I get the message:
"Connection Problems

Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later. "

I do not know what to do. I checked the database in cPanel and it shows OK, I even ran the repair routine and it also finished with everything being fine.

So my experience with x10 has not been starting out so great. Hope it will improve.

Kind Regards,

Brahman
Edit:
OK, the forum is available again, x10 must have had problems with their MySQL software.

I changed things around to port 25 and cpanel password and still no email. No entry in SMF error log either.

So I am running out of ideas.

Regards,

Brahman
