Can't access my site through ftp

Can't access my site through ftp. Using Filezilla, deleted all prior entries related to the site and reimported new files that i downloaded from cpanel and changed to new passwords in case they were wrong and still cannot login. Neither tls/ftp or sftp work.

sftp gets me

Error: Connection timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity
Error: Could not connect to server

ftp/tls gets me

Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Status: Initializing TLS...
Error: GnuTLS error -50 in gnutls_priority_set_direct: The request is invalid.
Error: Failed to initialize TLS.
Error: Could not connect to server

Need help fixing it so i can download some of my files.

just to add that i'm on xo3.x10hosting.com i trace back the actual name from my subdomain, still not working today.

Update: i can use ftp/tls as of right now but sftp (my prefered method) still fails with

Error: Connection timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity
Error: Could not connect to server
