Have uploaded a test site at http://reunion.x10hosting.com/

Tried to utlize form to give feedback, to no avail.

Returned error is "404 The page you requested is not available, please try again in a few minutes. Alternatively you can use the form below to find what you are looking for."

and is looking on URL: http://reunion.x10hosting.com/_vti_bin/shtml.exe/feedback.htm

Am using FrontPage 2003. Have uninstalled and re-installed FPSE from CP. Have noticed "shtml.exe in the _vti_bin part of above URL. Said .exe is not in that sub-directory that I can see through CP.

Any help greatly appreciated, I'm on a time crunch and have a few old ladies looking to me to get this reunion jump-started. Thanks!!

:dunno:

Yeah, the static part is loading just fine. It's when I try to utilize the FrontPage server extension functionality that the site fails. Notice the "Hit Counter" function doesn't work. Try leaving "Feedback" on itstab, it gives the following error.

FrontPage Run-Time Component Page

You have submitted a form or followed a link to a page that requires a web server and the FrontPage Server Extensions to function properly.
This form or other FrontPage component will work correctly if you publish this web to a web server that has the FrontPage Server Extensions installed.
Click the <Back> arrow to return to the previous page.

I couldn't get Front Page Extensions to even connect and upload, which used to work on the "old" Chopin server. I doubt whether they are yet implemented on the new server setup. Did you upload your site using the extensions or using FTP?

I tried to upload via FPSE to no avail. I had to do it either FTP or by DAV. I can't remember which ATM. I was kinda flustered and was just so excited that it finally uploaded.

I'm in agreement with eyemdee, I don't think FPSE are actually up and working.

I also posted a thread earlier about problems with MS FrontPage Server Extensions but the only reply I got was that my "front page" was loading fine. Yes, my website does load fine but any aspect that relies on FrontPage Server Extensions no longer works since the migration of Chopin to the new server hardware.

I have tried re-installing the FrontPage Server Extensions in cPanel as I have also tried un-installing them and then installing them again - neither worked.

Can anyone confirm if FrontPage Server Extensions in fact exist and are working on the Chopin server? If they are not, will they be added to the server and available at some point in the near future?

Thanks

Sadly I fear that FrontPage Extensions are now end of life and probably not compatible with latest Apache versions. I found more details here:- http://www.rtr.com/fpsupport/

Back to FTP for me unless I hear differently. I have had exactly the same problem with a UK paid host claiming to offer them but they just do not work any more.

Have you tried enabling the FrontPage Extensions in cPanel? If you log into it there should be such an option directly at the bottom of it.

EDIT: Sorry about that, I read your post too quickly >.> . I'm not sure if FrontPage extensions are working at the moment, but they did in the past. I can see what may be going on with them if you can't get it working still. Just keep in mind that the servers run Linux. May I just add however, that if you are going to upload files, you need to upload them FROM Microsoft FrontPage itself using either it's FrontPage Extensions uploader or it's built-in FTP client. IF you uploaded it using FrontPage however, the servers most recently did have issues with MONO so that might be a side effect too.

EDIT2: I just looked into your code a little bie, and this is most likely where your problem is:

Code:
<p>
<!--webbot bot="HitCounter" i-image="3" I-ResetValue="0" I-Digits="0" U-Custom startspan --><img src="_vti_bin/fpcount.exe/C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Beachnut/My%20Documents/My%20Web%20Sites/Reunion3/?Page=index.htm|Image=3" alt="Hit Counter"><!--webbot bot="HitCounter" i-checksum="42139" endspan --></p>

<!--msnavigation--></td></tr><!--msnavigation--></table><!--msnavigation--><table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tr><td>

This is what happens when you don't upload directly from FrontPage using FTP or another method it has built-in. Re-upload the pages and parts of the site that are not working via FrontPage itself.

Yes, but the problem is that the FrontPage Extensions uploader will not connect with the server, returning the error message that FrontPage Extensions are not installed. The FTP uploader works fine but will not give the FPE functionality.

Ah, I understand now. I'll see if I can find out as to if it is working or not.

I have the same problem as eyemdee - FrontPage will not connect to the server to allow me to upload anything - just keeps telling me the server does not have FP Extensions installed.

Thanks for looking into this Smith6612. I know FrontPage technology is old and horrible but this would save having to do a massive re-write of a lot of my website (which is something I should probably look at doing in the near future anyway....)

I just looked at your site and recognised the FrontPage template. If you lost your navigation and theme when you installed FrontPage extensions on the new server, all is not lost. The same happened to me and I discovered that I could delete all the main .htm pages from the server, then reupload them using FTP within FrontPage and everything came back. The only things that do not work are things like the hit counter and feedback forms which you need to source elsewhere.

As soon as you attempt to install the extensions again the navigation and theme will be zapped. I had this happen on another (paid) host so I knew what to do when Chopin was upgraded.

I fear that FPE are not supported on Apache 2 which is probably what Chopin runs. My site is www.susian.co.uk which may look familiar to you!!
