Can't connect to local MySQL server...

I noticed a couple of hours ago that I'm unable to access either my site or webmail. It's reporting the following error when I try accessing the site itself:

Could not connect to server: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (11 "Resource temporarily unavailable")

Anyone have an idea what's wrong? Do I just need to wait for the problem to fix itself (it does indicate that it's "temporary")?

It's not just you. Same here for 13+ hours - data base error email alerts started coming through from 3:25am Australian time.

rodneystevens.com (wordpress)
goldcoastcb.com (mybb forum)

(goldcoastcb.com index page works as it's doesn't require mysql.)
