Can't find my .htaccess file?

I know my .htaccess file is in the public_html folder, but I can't see it listed? I tried searching for '.htaccess' and the first thing that came up was '.htaccess' in 'public_html'. But when I double click on it, it just goes back to public_html with no .htaccess file listed?

Please can somebody help me?

Dot files (ie those beginning with '.' ... '.htaccess') are usually hidden by default. If you're using cPanel there's an option when you tell it to open the file manager to show hidden files (or dotfiles). If you're not using cPanel's file manager, you'll need to look up how to make your file manager show hidden files.
