I've tried everything--flushed DNS repeatedly, deleted history, and restarted my system. I was successfully signed in to my WordPress dashboard at one point (my browser crashed thanks to a faulty addon), so I know it's possible. Any help is much appreciated.

I have deleted the WordPress install and re-installed a couple of times, and got the 'index of' when I used hidemyass. However, IE, Firefox, and Chrome still show nothing but domain does not exist.

Edited to add: I can see it using the proxy, but not with the browsers.

@prairiet I do not know so far why, but flushing your DNS isn't gonna help as said on the Domain does not exist page. How you get to the website is by Clearing your Cache. Again, I have no idea why, but I hope that works.

That's the thing--I've completely deleted browsing history and temporary internet files, and it makes no difference. Is it just a matter of waiting for the server to refresh or something?

@prairiet That's not what I'm talking about. I said "cache". If you don't know how to clear your cache, search for how to clear your cache for your browser on a search engine. For Google Chrome, that's "chrome://settings/clearBrowserData" without the quotation marks. Cache between Browsing History and Temporary Internet Files are completely different things.

I can see it using the proxy, but not with the browsers.

Your IP is on somebodies firewall - when you can see it with a proxy but your browser throws 'domain does not exist' error

BTW I now see --> "HELLO WORLD" and other stuff on a WordPress page at [ http://prairietown.elementfx.com/ ]

@bdistler I can relate to the fact that you can see HELLO WORLD on a WordPress page. Oh, by the way, that was smart! I should've thought of that! :)

I think you're right--I'm getting the error message when using my tablet and home wifi network, as well as all three browers with caches properly cleared, so it could very well be a firewall problem.

Huh. Deleted and re-installed WordPress again, and now it works. Thank you to everyone for your help, most appreciated.
