can't login to account

Signed up for free account but when I enter login information I get either:

1) "An error has occurred you need to login to view this page"

or

2) A panel asking me to "link to your hosting account". When I enter my username I get "An error has occurred the hosting username you specified does not exist"

What should I do?

From memory I went to http://www.x10hosting.com/ then clicked on the "apply now" button in the red login box then followed the process from there.
