can't publish web site

Hi I have been trying to publish my web site I have made some progress, but not much. I have uploaded the files, deleted index.html and changed my home page to that title, it works fine. But trying to link my other pages to it is not working for me.
I have changed the file types to .html and also tried it as a .txt file but neither work.
Could some one please tell me what exactly I need to do to get my other pages linked up to the home page correctly so they can be viewed?
