Can't reply to thread posts

What is the restriction on replying to thread posts? I didn't see anything in the FAQ unless I overlooked it. When I try to reply to a thread post it goto a page that says I am not authorized. Does something have to be done on my end to allow me to reply to posts?

This is done to prevent "thread hi-jacking" where people keep saying "I have this problem too"

Until you reach a certain post level, you can only reply to your own threads.
